The Government has launched its “Road to Zero” strategy setting out its plans to ensure that at least 50% of new cars and 40% of vans are ultra low emission vehicles.
The Government also sets out its ambition to deploy the infrastructure required to support electric vehicles and looks to its commitment in its Air Quality Plan published last year to end the sale of conventional petrol and diesel cars by 2040.
A recent report commissioned by WWF set out the rationale for this 2040 target being accelerated to 2030 and how this could be achieved with multiple benefits.
